woman on computerCarpal Tunnel Syndrome, and other nerve entrapment syndromes that affect the arm and hand are common in people that have repetitive use jobs, such as computer operators, hair stylists, dental hygenists. A large portion of my practice involves treating these symptoms.

The important thing to understand about carpal tunnel/nerve entrapment, is that even though the pain may be limited to the hand and fingers, the entrapment may be anywhere from the neck and shoulders all the way down the arm. The nerves that supply the arm and hand originate in the neck. That is why it is important to get the head, neck and shoulders in balance before treating the arm and hand.

As you can see from the illustration, there are three nerves that supply the arm and hands. These nerves are the median, the ulnar and the radial. Any one or all of these nerves may be affected. Some symptoms of carpal tunnel/nerve entrapment are: numbness in the fingers or hand, pain radiating down the arm, pain and numbness in the hand after use, exhaustion in the hand/arm after use, and“falling asleep” of hand and arm.

It is important to get treatment as soon as you notice these symptoms. Many of my clients have been able to avoid surgery by receiving this protocol. The sooner you come in the less treatments you will need. I have had clients become symptom free after one treatment and others that have needed a series of sessions to get relief. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
